Sisterhood

Kappa Kappa Gamma - Sisterhood

“On the heart of each sister lies one key that binds us, The badge that reminds us of fraternity days. Down deep there’s a friendship that needs no concealing, Our hearts are revealing in so many ways.”

Being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma runs much deeper than friendships at UNL or living in the white brick house on 16th street. It’s more than the songs sung during Recruitment week or philanthropies and formals. The women in Sigma chapter become more than girlfriends to chat the night away or shop with on the weekends. At Kappa, we truly become sisters.

Sisterhood in Sigma chapter encompasses each member in an immediate bond. Through laughter, tears, stress, joys and triumphs, a Kappa sister will always be a knock-on-the-door or a phone call away. Adjusting to college, new classes and living away from home is a difficult transition, but with a network of amazing ladies to rely on, the stress is no longer a burden. Gaining dozens of sisters creates an unbreakable support system that weathers any storm.

Sigma chapter organizes many sisterhood activities throughout the school year. Bid Day activities allow the new members to meet their pledge class and the upperclassmen. Sleepovers, all-house retreats and Monday night dinners engage the whole house and give everyone a chance to get to know each other. These events strengthen relationships and give members a chance to appreciate how meaningful it is to be a member of Kappa.

The most rewarding facet of Kappa sisterhood is far more momentous than a night watching movies on our infamous brown couch or sharing dresses for Recruitment. Gaining a sister for a lifetime makes four years as an active seem trivial, comparatively. Relationships built during the collegiate experience travel through the years, and the women you once knew at UNL become women you lean on for life.
